{ The event we have all been waiting for... }

Erin Elton here… it has been about 6 months since the beginning of their journey to love and we are happy to announce that Aubrey Messick is now a LAIDLAW!!! Aubrey and Matt were sealed in the Los Angeles temple last Saturday, March 19th and the day could not have been more perfect. Sure the weather people tried to freak Aubrey and her amazing mother Kim out by telling them and all of California that it was going to thunder storm all day, but thankfully the sky was dry and set us up for a perfect wedding. After a mid-morning sealing, Matt’s parents hosted a delicious luncheon at Bistro Santa Monica. We mingled with close friends and family and congratulated the stunning newly-married couple in a more intimate setting before heading back to Orange County for the reception festivities.

Back at the Messick household things were a little bit more hectic. “Club Messick” as we have always fondly referred to Aubrey’s immaculate backyard had turned into a wedding wonderland. For the last three months Aubrey and her mother Kim have been designing the most classy wedding reception I have EVER attended. Navy blue and white dishes and mirrors as a background motif, to tulips with a touch of green graced the landscape underneath the most beautiful twinkle lights and clean white tents.

Highlights of the night for me? First and foremost my best friend Aubrey looking GORGEOUS in her custom-made dress by our beloved Sara Archibald of Illume Gowns and hair by her sister Kellie Messick, delicious food that I kept gorging on all night (fruit, salad, Panini sandwiches and the best coconut cupcakes in this galaxy), a beautiful setting, so many close friends, a dance floor and the talented DJ Scotty Messick spinning tracks, Matt dancing up a STORM (watch the video for a glimpse of that), a HAPPY and perfectly content couple, Kylee Johnson singing for Matt and Aubrey’s first dance (that girl has some pipes!), and to top it all off? A motorcycle ride off into the night in the midst of sparklers and cheering. It was probably one of the top 3 weddings I have ever been to and I am almost a professional wedding goer and bridesmaid (a 27 dresses reality show might be the next venture if I keep this up:).

Side note – we also watched the BYU vs. Gonzaga game before the guests arrived at Aubrey's house and if the game was any indication of the kind of “winning” marriage that Matt and Aubrey are destined for then it is going to be a really fun and successful life (thanks Jimmer and team and GO BYU!!!).

As we close this chapter and Aubrey and Matt start another, a special thanks is due again to everyone who helped with The Mormon Bachelorette Season One – Emily who is a saving grace for me and Aubrey and is the next one to get married because she caught the bouquet, Larry who filmed more than his fair share of dates and even though it didn’t work out with Aubrey he is now MARRIED too:), Justin and Emily Gibby who gave up time and energy following us around with a camera, the many friends and family who either donated money or date experiences for Aubrey and her dates, and of course to Aubrey and Matt who are now blissfully wed for time and all eternity.

So here’s my plug to all of you ladies (and potential bachelors that want to snag an amazing woman) who might be reading this. THE FAIRYTALE does exist in the form of a month-long Mormon online dating show – at least for some it does:). Get your applications in! We will be accepting video applications until April 15th but the sooner the better. Get ready to show us your true personality and why you should be the next Mormon Bachelorette on this journey to find true Mormon love. E-mail your videos to themormonbachelorette@gmail.com. You can also send any questions there or contact me through Facebook – www.facebook.com/erin.elton1. We are big fans of eternal marriage over here so let’s do this AGAIN people and MOST importantly – CONGRATULATIONS MR. & MRS. LAIDLAW!!!

{ A Dressy Occasion with Erin and Emily }

Always a bridesmaid and never a bride... yet! In preparations for Aubrey's big day Emily and I had so much fun trying on modest bridesmaid dresses at the home business of Donna Anderson, A Dressy Occasion. She not only had a HUGE selection of beautiful bridesmaid dresses, but she also carries modest prom dresses, and the most gorgeous modest wedding gowns. Shopping is one of our favorite things to do but it was even better with Donna there to give her expert recommendations and show us the latest styles. I remember the day when it was impossible to find cute and modest dresses for any formal occasion. Now it is easy - there were so many to choose from and Donna takes care of everything to the dress selection, fitting, alterations and delivery. She works with brides in California and all over the world that need modest dresses without having to sew in sleeves and ruin a style. Check out A Dressy Occasion to see all the newest styles and prepare for your next special occasion:).
